Since it first invaded in the early '60s, Japanese animation ("Anime" to those in the know) has kept a devoted fan base which has grown with every passing year and new, merchandising-filled episode. From mass-marketed favorites like Speed Racer and Gigantor (both of whose themes are here, just as you remember) to somewhat more esoteric shows like Windaria and Oh My Goddess those big dewy eyes have been captivating viewers around the world for decades. Now, the compilation kings (and cartoon fans) at Rhino have put together a disc which not only features 12 of the most popular themes (four translated for your listening pleasure, eight in the original Japanese), but also features what could be a first in music packaging. Instead of only one cover, the disc comes with an exchangeable animation cell, just like the millions which flashed across our TV screens (and many of which continue to do so), which allows listeners to enjoy their favorite songs along with their favorite heroes. From romance to adventure, it's all here, lushly orchestrated in beautiful celluloid -- a great collection for the seasoned fan or even the uninitiated.
