In 1951 pianist/arranger Fletcher Henderson was gravely ill (he would pass away in late 1952). Benny Goodman always gave Henderson's arrangements a great deal of the credit for his commercial success and did not need to be persuaded to perform a benefit for his mentor. BG reunited with pianist Teddy Wilson and drummer Gene Krupa as the Benny Goodman Trio for the first time in 13 years and, along with several guests on some selections (including trumpeter Buck Clayton and trombonist Lou MCGarity), performed classic swing tunes for this now long-out-of-print LP.
