AllMusic Review by

Jliat keeps on pushing the limits of art. The Beethoven Symphonies is a 3" CD with one eight-minute track that can be easily summarized: a low-definition computer voice reads an essay on Beethoven's symphonies. The artistic statement resides in the flagrant contradiction between the cheap digital voice, highly artificial, and the analysis of the emotional charge of Beethoven's works -- a machine speaks of emotion and the artistically sublime. The listener is surprised at first, then gets the joke and laughs, then gets tired of the gravelly voice. There is no sound treatment, no other sound used, nothing. Just the computer voice and the text itself. Another puzzling release by Jliat.
