French RCA in the 1960s had a very extensive reissue program of early jazz in their Black and White series. This LP (Vol. 158) contains obscure recordings by Fatty Martin's Orchestra, pianist Sugar Underwood, The Ross De Luxe Syncopators (which has Edmund Hall making his recording debut), Taylor's Dixie Orchestra and Eddie Johnson's Crackerjacks. These bands were all from the South and are sometimes a touch primitive (as is the recording quality) but there are some spirited moments and the latter two groups are particularly excellent. Much of this valuable music has not yet been reissued on CD.
