Like his fellow Cologne cousins, Kerosene knows to spin out a beat and tell a story. A superlative programmer, sampler surveyor, and electronics maven, Kerosene reveals sonic tales on TEENAGE SECRET far too juicy to be hushed up.
The title track is worth the price of admission alone--an almost cinematic piece replete with jazzy cymbals, cooing electronics, piano clutter, pliant techno-noir strings and host of other sound effects. "Your Muscles" begins with a siren intoning seductive nothings in your ear over lazy basslines and simple piano notes, before B-movie synths create sublime, sexy rhythms over the entire enterprise. Best of all might be the electro-jazz stylings of "Supercrash," where Kerosene lets loose the tectonic plates of soundtrack dancehall--all the major players are caught in the ensuing mass of post-bop percussion and surging electronics.
