Undoubtedly an effort to cash in on the late-'90s swing revival, this disc is one in a series of compilations, all of which include several tracks of crucial big-band swing along with a few more square pop hits to round out the proceedings. Swingin' the Blues has the title track by Count Basie plus Louis Armstrong's "Jeepers Creepers" and Cab Calloway's "Beale Street Mama." The (relative) downside comes with the several tracks by Glenn Miller and Jimmy Dorsey, more famous as pop hits than dance tunes.
