AllMusic Review by

A wonderful 20-song set of the group's earliest sides, all of it recorded between 1935 and 1938. The group was still a year away from their breakthrough hit, "If I Didn't Care," and Bill Kenny's presence is not to be found on these sides. But the group was a hot little jazz-styled vocal group, capable of fast-tempo flag wavers like "Swingin' on the Strings," "Slap That Bass," and the title track. The transfers are reasonably clean -- excepting some occasional groove distortion from the old 78s -- and as a document of the early days of the group, this is a pretty good one.
