71 years old at the time, pianist Sammy Price had been a working jazz, blues and boogie-woogie musician for over 50 years when he recorded this set of unaccompanied solos. Typecast as a blues musician (partly because that was his favorite music), Price here also performs a variety of swing standards including "It Don't Mean a Thing," "A Hundred Years From Today," "Don't Blame Me" and "Stormy Weather." He shows throughout the melodic, relaxed and bluesy date that he was a superior swing player. This LP is worth searching for.
