The 77-minute Superhitsinternational is harder to discuss than its sister "only sold at gigs" CD release, Live on WFMU NYC Solo Acoustic, for the lack of song titles and the bounty of unknown material. But let's just say this is the 1999 "lost" LP recorded with his ex-American Music Club foil Vudi we've heard so much about. And Vudi's intensity, especially in the whacked out, damaged lead that ends the first track, makes this too an extremely valuable find for even the most casual fan. Recorded by the pair with three others (including six-year Eitzel solo bandmember, Mark Capelle) in January 1999 in a San Francisco studio, these songs are further arresting -- thanks to the old soaring, emoting, belting Eitzel, reaching the top of his register while singing typically wrenching lines like "You have no other hope" or "Love is a mystery to me." Great! Sir Eitzel! Please release this properly, too!
