While this collection indisputably contains some classic songs from a classic label, do not expect a comprehensive overview. There's no Elvis Presley, for example. But what you do get is pretty fine. "Great Balls of Fire" by Jerry Lee Lewis, "Blue Suede Shoes" by Carl Perkins, and the poignant "Ballad of a Teenage Queen" by Johnny Cash get this compilation off to a strong start. On "Ooby Dooby," Roy Orbison rocks about as hard as he ever did. Among the label's lesser lights featured here is the terrific "Raunchy" by sax player Bill Justis. The Johnny Ray tearjerker "Walkin' in the Rain" is sung by the Prisonaires, five inmates at Tennessee Penitentiary.
