The original 10" LP soundtrack for Summer Stock, from 1950, was a good representation of the score and then some. It was also a kind of a cheat, opening with the strongest number in the score (which wasn't even originally part of the score), "Get Happy." But so what -- it's a great song and a great recording, and everything else here works well; even Gene Kelly, by not pushing too hard on his singing, turns in a great low-key performance on "You Wonderful You," and the rest of the ballads and even the novelty tunes are still good listening 50-plus years later. The running time is a little short, but the quality makes up for it.
