This very odd release assembles ten faceless smooth jazz performances as a promotion for medical magazine and newsletter publisher Dowden Health Media. According to the liner notes, "Contemporary jazz and quality custom publishing have quite a few traits in common, not the least of which is the ability to motivate." It's an interesting idea, but all this banal music will motivate your average listener to do is change the CD in favor of something better. However, physicians should note Style & Substance is an even more effective sedative than barbiturates, and much less addictive.
