Representing the lover's rock and roots side of dancehall, Strictly the Best, Vol. 28 delivers with the year's best, most innovative tunes. Just Friends, a sparkling take on the old platonic vs. romantic dilemma, pairs Swade's mellow vocals with Tony Rebel's distinctive toasting for a pleasingly laid-back groove, while Tune In serves up the classic lover's rock sound with Gregory Issacs and Louis Culture's legendary crooning. Standouts include Don Campbell's cover of Usher's "You Remind Me," taken to another level thanks to his soulful vocals, and Elan's much-needed update of UB40's ubiquitous "Red Red Wine," which adds punch with an up-tempo riddim.
