Strawberry Shortcake: Strawberry Jams collects some of the songs from the series of videos released in the 2000s. The first five songs come from Strawberry Shortcake: Spring for Strawberry Shortcake, and while it's commendable that the young girls voicing Strawberry Shortcake and pals like Angel Cake, Orange Blossom, and Ginger Snap aren't overly trained, the songs themselves, which include "Jammin'" and "I Put the Zing in Spring," unfortunately tend to be as sickly sweet as Strawberry Shortcake's namesake dessert. The songs from Strawberry Shortcake: Meet Strawberry Shortcake fare better; "Work Together" and "Strawberry Girl in a Strawberry World" have catchy melodies that are easy to sing along with. The songs from Strawberry Shortcake: Get Well Adventure are nearly as good, with "It's All How You Look at It" and "Have a Good Trip" among the standouts. Some of the activity and character songs, such as "The Strawberry Shake" and "A Snappy Ginger Snap," are also pretty good. But for the most part -- with the possible exception of the multimedia content also included on the disc -- Strawberry Shortcake: Strawberry Jams will only have entertainment value for Strawberry Shortcake's newest fans, not those who grew up with her in the '80s.
