AllMusic Review by

Johnny Guarnieri, who was often overlooked in later years, was one of the great jazz pianists of the 1940s, and fortunately, he was still in top form in the '70s. Guarnieri, who could do close impressions of several pianists, loved to imitate Fats Waller both as a pianist and as a singer. On this well-rounded set, he sings a couple of songs, debuts two never-recorded Waller compositions ("I'm Not Worrying" and "I Found You Out"), takes "I've Got a Feeling I'm Falling" and "Black and Blue" in 5/4 time, and revives a variety of Fats' better-known tunes. Excellent music way overdue to be reissued on CD.
