AllMusic Review by

Coming out of the same late-'80s milieu fellow-Bay Area outfits like American Music Club and Camper Van Beethoven were a part of, Spot 1019 eschews much of the overt song complexity of those bands in favor of a driving mix of country-inspired punk. Vocalist Jimb Lyons delivers tongue-in-cheek vocals in the vein of a less-than-diabolical Gibby Haynes, while the band sticks to a stripped-down sound sparked by tight playing from all sides. And while they occasionally indulge in Butthole Surfers-inspired material like "The King Cometh" to impressive effect, Spot 1019 mostly stick to comical surf and hot rod hoedowns like "16 Wheels," "Milkbomb," "Dinky Dog & the Demon Master," and "Surf Machine." It's high summer, cheap beer is plentiful, and you're barbecuing with all your grown-up punk friends to the tune of the Green Acres theme. Enjoy.
