This album by concert harpist and sound healer Joel Andrews focuses on many variations of the swirling golden "glissandi" so at home on the harp. According to Andrews, Splendor of Light is an invocation to the qualities of the crown chakra at the top of the head, and, indeed, it is a "heady" album. Like liquid incense, the notes eddy and sparkle deliriously; the quiet moments -- the ones that Zenlike tiptoe up the stairs of heaven -- are, however, the most compelling. If you have any resistance left by the end of the side, Andrews' siren voice will lure you upward. "Coalescence" is meant to resolve differences between couples by balancing the third chakra energy center. Glissandi create a warm comforting space, followed by a thoughtful dialogue of music that almost seems to hold hands. Later glissandi invite letting go, a sonic harmonic flushing into spirit. This tranquil and meditative "poem of harmony" should pour oil on any troubled waters.
