Released to celebrate their 25th Anniversary, Spirituality 1983-2008: The Consummate Compendium is a hits package from Canadian Celtic folk-rock five-piece Spirit of the West. Ignoring their self-titled debut, the two-CD, 32-track collection gathers material from 1986's Tripping Up the Stairs ("The Crawl") and subsequent studio albums right up to 2004's Star Trails ("Waiting for Martin"). Alongside breakthrough single "Political," "And If Venice Is Sinking" (their biggest success), and frosh week and wedding favorite "Home for a Rest," there are two new songs, "Another Happy New Year" and "Winter's Now the Enemy," a previously unreleased demo of Open Heart Symphony album track "Kiss and Tell," and their cover of Donovan's "Sunshine Superman," previously only available on his tribute album, Island of Circles.
