AllMusic Review by

This 156-minute compilation of '70s hits is, in keeping with its origins, distinctly British oriented, which is why you get Slade, the Sweet, T. Rex, et al., in such prominent positions here, alongside international phenomena like Diana Ross, the Commodores, Free, Gerry Rafferty, Fleetwood Mac, the Village People, Elton John & Kiki Dee, the Pretenders, and so on. The package in generous and ranges across the entire decade, tending a little bit toward the more melodic side of pop/rock -- the big exceptions are "20th Century Boy," "Mama Weer All Crazee Now," and "Blockbuster," by those Brit acts mentioned above -- and using the best state-of-the-art masters for every track, so the sound really rocks. There are no notes to speak of, but little needed on what is essentially a very long and decidedly well produced party album. The package was put together to entertain, not educate or inform, and it succeeds eminently at the first.
