AllMusic Review by

Soul Party is a perfectly middle of the road collection of '60s and '70s singles that varied in popularity upon release -- though most were significant chart hits. This is unnecessary unless you're in need of several of the songs; the same ground has been covered on so many other compilations that the disc itself won't be likely to catch your eye in the CD bins. Featured selections include Brook Benton's "Rainy Night in Georgia," Odyssey's "Native New Yorker," Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman," George Williams' "Unchain My Heart," Betty Everett's "It's in His Kiss (The Shoop Shoop Song)," Bob & Earl's "Harlem Shuffe," the Drifters' "Saturday Night at the Movies," Ike & Tina Turner's "River Deep, Mountain High," and the Trammps' "Hold Back the Night."
