It's futile to deny the soul emanating from Moods & Grooves' stable of deep house producers, and it's nearly as futile to argue that any of the four featured producers on this compilation -- Brian Harden, Mike Grant, Alton Miller, and Brett Dancer -- present anything but heartfelt house music. Unfortunately, as great as these producers and their tracks are, relative to the previous releases on Moods & Grooves -- which are all excellent -- these productions seem inferior, with the exception of Grant's "Late Night." This wonderful track features the well-executed inclusion of vocals by Detroit legend Blake Baxter, who lays down some of his patented sexuality. This track has a high-tech feel and seems an extension of Baxter's better work in the early '90s.
