AllMusic Review by

Susan Reed's first 12" LP combines her debut recording for Columbia Records, a gorgeous adaptation of Joseph Canteloube's Songs of the Auvergne for singer and chamber ensemble (including pianist George Reeves), with her interpretations of American, Irish, and English folk songs. This, as much as her earlier RCA Victor recordings on 78, was the album that put Reed on the map. Ironically, thanks to the linkup between RCA Victor and Columbia through Sony BMG, it could all be gathered together today on CD, and make one very impressive body of music 60 years after its initial release.
