AllMusic Review by

Guitarist John Anello, Jr. is best known for his involvement with jazz -- both as a soloist and as the owner/founder of the small Cexton Records. But as part of Andante Duo -- for which he plays mandolin and joins forces with accordion player Roger Dowell -- Anello celebrates his Italian heritage with mostly traditional Italian music. On this cassette-only release, the players maintain a soulful and warm Italian feeling on familiar Italian songs like "Come Back to Sorrento" and "O Sole Mio," as well as material ranging from the "Theme from 'The Godfather'" to the charming Greek gem "Never on Sunday." Hopefully, Anello and Cexton will eventually release Songs of Italy and Europe on CD.
