Never forgetting that music is an emotional medium, Bruce Stark grounds the technical skill of his playing and composing in a wide range of feeling. From the uptempo "Coming Home" to the nostalgic "Waltz," Stark's writing and playing serve the emotions he wishes to convey on Song of Hope. The first solo piano release from Hearts of Space, Song of Hope showcases the warm tones of Stark's Grotrian grand piano, with pieces like "Night Fires" highlighting the tonal, dynamic and rhythmic range of the instrument -- and the composer. The polyrhythms of "Gliding Song" and deep chords of "Indian Memory" round out a collection that is technically and emotionally appealing.
