AllMusic Review by

This is rough and ready salsa from Colombia. Los Nemus del Pacifico come from the Chaco, a hot, humid lowland area along Colombia's Pacific coast. Leader Alexis Murillo has penned and sings ten songs about women ("yo necesito la novia...que tenga cuerpo guitarra": "I need a woman with a body like a guitar"), going back to Africa ("Del Chaco pa'l Congo...al Africa me voy": "From Chaco to the Congo...I'm going to Africa") and a surprising one about children as our future. Colombia has lots of gamines, kids who are homeless, typically because their mother remarried and the stepfather threw them out because he didn't want another man's kids in the house. Murillo's song is moving and expresses hope for the future through the children. Nothing fancy here, nothing slick. Pure, straight-ahead son montuno to make you dance and to make you think a little along the way.
