AllMusic Review by

Among the several fine traditional sones groups playing in Cuba today, Cañambú is unique in that it still uses bongo-, maraccas- and bass-substitutes like those its founder created out of bamboo cane in 1940. As is its inventor, as lead singer and composer, that percussion section is still cooking. Classic sounds, including versions of Piñeiro's "Mayeya" and Matamoros's great "Olvido."
