AllMusic Review by

After a long period of critical neglect, pianist Art Hodes' career was on the upswing in the early '80s. Rightfully celebrated for his blues solos, Hodes' uptempo romps (check out "Grandpa's Spells" and "Struttin' With Some Barbecue" on this solo set) could be quite jubilant, with his left hand exuberantly pounding out chords on the beat. This well-rounded set is a fine showcase for his playing talents.
