Sings His Greatest Hits is a somewhat dodgy collection of the great songwriter Otis Blackwell -- the man who wrote some pillar tunes in rock & roll history -- performing his own songs. Blackwell's original recordings of these tunes were fine, inspiring even, but these are re-recordings of such classics as "Great Balls of Fire," "All Shook Up," "Return to Sender," "Don't Be Cruel," and many others. Blackwell's versions never eclipsed those of his most famous interpreters, but his own first recordings are far superior to these.
