AllMusic Review by

Often the songs that have the longest legs aren't the ones about love, romance, the blues, tragedy, or reaching for the moon, but the songs that make us laugh at life's absurdities, or simply because they're so ridiculous in conception. This set, the first in a two-volume series, features British comedy songs recorded between 1926 and 1956 by the likes of Arthur Askey, Max Miller, Max Bygraves, and others, including such silly classics as "You're a Pink Toothbrush" and "I'm Walking Backwards for Christmas."
