Kenny Chambers, one of America's primary overlooked talents, has amassed a shockingly great catalog of LPs with his fiery Boston trio Moving Targets, and with Sin Cigaros, he succeeds with an entirely instrumental LP. The crunching yet gorgeous pile-drive of the also one-time Bullet la Volta guitarist's edgy, nervous phrasings are preserved, and tracks such as "Soldier" and "El Topo" employ a variety of effects to create ear-catching, darting sounds. Despite this one's hypnotic qualities, his yearning, aching voice and soaring melodies from previous Targets' (and solo) LPs are missed -- that just means newcomers should start elsewhere. All else jump aboard for an intriguing ride.
