One of the few records released by Transmat during the late '90s, Microworld's Signals/Smile EP is a glimmering slab of Detroit techno. "Signals" in particular is a gem, very much reminiscent of classic Transmat records from the late '80s (those synth melodies!). The label compiled an edit of the track on its excellent Time: Space compilation, but here you get the extended version, which is preferable. It's one of those tracks you just never want to end. "Smile" is likewise fine, but "Signals" is the standout track here. Records like this, along with Aril Brikha's concurrent output for the label, make you wish Transmat would release more music.
