AllMusic Review by

With the '90s rush of high-profile shiny rappers glamorizing ghettos and gangster life, the days of soulful words and funky beats from the likes of De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest were washed away. Though Five Deez is not quite on the par of either De La or Tribe, with the Secret Agent Number EP they combine real instruments, deep beats, and turntablism while demonstrating heavy rhyming skills and techniques. With this release there is also some obvious and welcome growth on the part of the duo's production team. Given the ill state of the rap world in 2000, Five Deez is definitely not rap's savior -- but the duo is refreshing nonetheless.
