AllMusic Review by

Pointless Orchestra's release follows 1987's electronic/ambient Approaching Totality with an astonishing collection of meditative pieces that transcend the more substance-less genre of meditation music. Often lilting, often ominous, the music of Scattered Meditations works to both stimulate and lull the mind. Featured on this release are Jim Cole, Sharen Baker, and Alan Dow -- members of the harmonic singing group Spectral Voices -- whose parts for this recording were recorded from the bottom of an old disused water tower. "Makyo" stands out on this recording as one of the stronger pieces, spotlighting the solo wail of David Badagnani's English horn over a bed of meditative rumblings. Also present on this recording is "Comparative Levity," originally released on the Enhanced Gravity CD-ROM, featuring tuned water glasses and an assortment of electronics. All in all, a very satisfying listen.
