An unabashed hippie band that's been around for over 20 years, Saturday's Child has finally gotten around to releasing a CD. Most potential listeners probably didn't realize they were waiting and have more probably not even realized the wait is over. The CD is filled with highly derivative slabs of Americana, drenched in bluesy guitar solos (including a lackluster guest shot on "Don't Tell Me About Love" by Scott Murawski, guitarist for the almost equally bland but more successful New England mainstays Max Creek). The sound is reminiscent of the predictables (the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers Band, Little Feat, and the Band), without any of the spunk or creativity.
