Since the birth of the Residents and Ralph Records, the song "Santa Dog" has been a track reworked every four years, then sent out as free gifts to fans. This first release from UWEB, the fan club that ran from 1988 to 1994, contains all four versions of the track, from the original, sleepy beat-group version of 1972 (the band's first ever single) to a Midi-driven, valium-addled update for Christmas 1988. In between, the EP traces the growth of the group from young pranksters, aggressive and discordant, to meticulous, murky computer composers. A pressing of only 500 were made of this release, numbered and signed by Uncle Willie, the head of the fan club (and who knows, probably a Resident). The track was once again redone in 1992.
