The songs on Same Old Life fit neatly into the pseudo-alternative rock radio format that has championed the likes of Matchbox 20, Days of the New, Tonic, and the like, but make no mistake, Pound is a pop/rock guitar band, pure and simple. Their catchy melodies and big-sounding arrangements make them sound more upbeat than those contemporaries -- a refreshing change of pace from the standard affected angst of much post-grunge guitar bands. While not every song hits the mark, there are enough good moments to indicate strong potential for the future.
