One of those frustrating one-sided deals courtesy of Kenny Dixon, Jr., the executive producer here, "Runaway" is a nine-minute track of subdued deep house based on a simple, unchanging beat. (To be fair, the beat drops out six minutes in but reappears soon enough). Featuring elegant, effortlessly intoned lead vocals from Roberta Sweed, there's little added to the track, save for some twinkling piano runs, spare bass work, and some of the incidental background chatter that has become customary on releases from Dixon and his mates. This is definitely something to pull from the crate when you want to give the dancers something of a breather -- a good way to lessen the intensity. Too bad the B-side's blank.
