AllMusic Review by

A compilation that's not to be confused with the 1970 album of the same name, ROSE GARDEN presents many of country singer Lynn Anderson's finest moments. Of course, the main attraction of this set is the lush title track, which proved to be a huge hit on both the country and pop charts. Though Anderson was a proficient songwriter, all of the tunes on this disc are covers, which serve to shine the spotlight on her interpretive skills. Accompanied by alternately swooning and sparkling arrangements (no doubt influenced by her status as a LAWRENCE WELK SHOW mainstay), the honey-voiced performer eases into Tammy Wynette's legendary "Stand By Your Man," the wistful Patsy Cline hit "I Fall to Pieces," and Roy Orbison's "Blue Bayou," always managing to capture the emotion inherent in each number. Although there are many Anderson collections on the market, this concise offering is one of the best introductions to the often-underrated vocalist.
