The outbreak of post-punk followed closely on the heels of the original punk onslaught, as anyone who has heard the early Banshees, Magazine, Killing Joke, and others can attest. But it took a good 15 years for post-hardcore to come into play. On this three-song debut single, New Jersey's the Trans Megetti quartet sounds like Live Skull, Sonic Youth, Blonde Redhead, etc., if such groups had actually played hardcore instead of just listening to it! There are detuned guitars, atonal chords, playing-with-pitch vocals, and a glorious, messed-up din, but set to the overdrive, speed, guts, and simmering rage of hardcore (just short of thrash). Hmmm!
