I Ran

A Flock of Seagulls

(LP - Cleopatra #2394)

Review by Greg Prato

Since A Flock of Seagulls were known primarily for two early MTV hits, "I Ran" and "Space Age Love Song," the budget-priced 12-track compilation, I Ran, is probably the only purchase most will need. Probably remembered more for singer Mike Score's wacky hair styles than for their musical contributions to new wave, I Ran of course includes those two aforementioned synth-heavy dance hits (how could any Flock of Seagulls compilation not?), as well as a smattering of lesser-known, yet deserving, tracks -- "D.N.A.," "Telecommunication," and "Modern Love Is Automatic." If you were spotted on the dancefloor of just about any modern rock club during the early '80s, these futuristic sounding ditties should bring back quite a few memories.
