Guinean composer and arranger Amadou Sodia is a master of the Bolon, the traditional Guinean instrument whose harp-like reverberations dominate his second solo album, CA VA SE SAVOIR. In the ‘70s, Sodia made his name as a member of Guinea’s Horoya Band, and has more recently gained attention for his stunning contributions to Sekou Kouyate’s 1990 masterpiece, DOMBA. CA VA SE SAVOIR is full of gentle, expertly performed compositions with subtly complex arrangements. It also features the contributions of Guinean masters such as guitarist Ousmane Kouyate and kora virtuoso Djeli Moussa Diawara.
