Frank Strazzeri's first full set of piano solos was performed quite spontaneously, and the whole album came together in just two hours. The emphasis is on relaxed tempos, although there is a fair amount of variety in repertoire (which ranges from "As Long as I Live" and "Keepin' Out of Mischief Now" to "Star Eyes," Alec Wilder's "The Winter of My Discontent" and even "Send in the Clowns"). Although one may think of Frank Strazzeri as primarily a bebop pianist, he shows that he can also play swing and has a strong left hand. This LP is worth searching for.
