The tiny VGM label came out with two valuable Wes Montgomery LPs back in the 1980s. This first volume features the influential guitarist stretching out on four pieces in a quartet with brothers Buddy (on piano and vibes) and Monk (bass) along with drummer Billy Hart. These versions of "All of You," Milt Jackson's "Heartstrings," "Summertime," and Wes' "Bock to Bock" range from six to 14 minutes, are reasonably well-recorded, and contain stirring improvisations. Fans of the guitarist should go out of their way to find this one.
