AllMusic Review by

The first volume of a projected ten-volume series, here are Roy's 1953 radio shows sponsored by the popular soft drink. These rare acetates (only four complete sets still exist) encompassed 52 15-minute shows for the entire broadcast run and were recorded at the WSM Studios in Nashville. As such, it's classic Acuff and the Smoky Mountain Boys, expanded to include comedy from the Duke of Paducah and harmonica and fiddle features from Jimmy Riddle and Howdy Forrester. These four shows are also a reminder of what was still on the radio in the early to mid-'50s when rock & roll was taking over the airwaves.
