The Rarities Edition of The Velvet Underground & Nico contains the second disc from the 2002 double-disc Deluxe Edition of the classic 1967 album. This means that it’s essentially the mono mix of the album -- along with single versions of “All Tomorrow’s Parties,” “Sunday Morning,” and “Femme Fatale,” plus an alternate take of “I’ll Be Your Mirror” -- and contains none of the five songs from Nico’s Chelsea Girl that adorned the first disc of the Deluxe Edition. For the hardcore, this is a nice way to get the mono version of the album without plunking down for a double-disc set, but chances are that if you really wanted the mono mix you bought that Deluxe Edition years ago and have no need for this.
