While Universal Music makes no attempt to hide it, it’s important for the consumer to look closely at the single-disc Rarities Edition series packages -- particularly the wraparound sleeve because the covers on these babies feature the original album cover art. These CDs are simply the bonus discs packaged inside their double-disc, slipcased, Deluxe Editions of the albums they represent; they do not contain the original album even though the cover art is the same. This volume was the second disc in the Deluxe Edition of Motörhead’s classic 1980 album, Ace of Spades. It contains the same 15 tracks; they consist of three different versions of “Dirty Love,” the B-side of “Ace of Spades,” two alternate takes of “Love Me Like a Reptile”; and alternate takes of album tracks including the title cut. There are two selections from a BBC Live Session ,and a live medley of “Bite the Bullet/The Chase Is Better Than the Catch.” Fans who own the Deluxe Edition can ignore this set, but those who already have remastered versions of the the single-disc album and are missing the extras may want to consider this one -- but carefully -- it's primarily for the hardcore Motörmaniac.
