The personnel listing on this Herwin LP is overly speculative and often quite inaccurate but the small-group 1920s jazz is generally quite excellent. Best are the two titles by the oddly named E.C. Cobb And His Corn-Eaters but there are also good moments from The State Street Ramblers, The Harlem House Rent Stompers, Jasper Taylor and the original Midnight Ramblers Orchestra (although the pioneering cornetist Freddie Keppard is definitely not on the latter group's two titles) and Nelson's Paramount Serenaders. Most of this music has still not been reissued on CD so 1920s collectors may want to search for this album despite the faulty information.
