Glenn Alexander is a fine fusion/post-bop guitarist whose sound and style are sometimes a little reminiscent of Pat Metheny. The weakness to this CD is the material, for the ten originals (eight by Alexander and two by keyboardist Scott Healy) are rather forgettable and do not contain any memorable melodies. However, the interplay among the musicians (Alexander, Healy, Christopher Mayers, Dave LaRue, Harvie Swartz, Michael Formanek, or Mark Egan on bass, Ben Smith or Dick Weller on drums, and sometimes percussionist Manolo Badrena) uplifts the music and shows that these are fine players. Hopefully, Alexander will show what he can really do on more vital songs in the future, for he has talent.
