AllMusic Review by

The second of two Terry Waldo CDs released by the Musical Heritage Society in 1988 features the pianist in several different settings. With the exception of three numbers recorded at the same time as Waldo's 1987 Footlight Variety album but not put out in the Stomp Off set, all of the music has been previously released although most of the LPs are now out-of-print. The title of this CD is slightly inaccurate since some of the music is classic jazz rather than ragtime and many of the ragtime pieces are obscure rather than being "classics." However the performances are consistently enjoyable. Waldo is heard with his ragtime orchestra, takes a couple of piano solos, jams with a couple of different trios and plays with a hot jazz combo. The bulk of the music was originally out on the Stomp Off albums Smiles and Chuckles, Spectacular Ragtime, Wizard of the Keyboard, Waldo's Gutbucket Syncopators Present, Vamp 'Til Ready, Terry Waldo & the Gotham City Band and the 1978 Dirty Shame release Jazz Babies. An excellent example of Waldo's playing and bandleading talents.
