AllMusic Review by

Packaged garishly and priced cheaply, R&B: The Ultimate Collection is a five-disc compilation that spans the early '60s through the early 2010s and doesn't stick strictly to R&B. There are some rap hits here, including Game's "Big Dreams," Eve's "Let Me Blow Ya Mind," Dizzee Rascal's "Dance wiv Me," and Salt-N-Pepa's "Push It." It's hard to argue against most of the selections that are actually R&B, including Womack & Womack's genius "Teardrops," Positive Force's "We Got the Funk," Cameo's "Candy," and D'Angelo's "Brown Sugar." Despite the seemingly arbitrary selection process and the lousy presentation, this is a rather affordable way to obtain a big chunk of popular songs.
